telepathy
Bubbles: "I'm leaving, but it's not the last time we'll see each other, promise..."
Claire: "But how do i know that Ray isn't going to leave me in the shop after close?"
Bubbles: "I know you don't have opposable thumbs, but just call me and I'll pick you up, maybe even give you a chicken wing."
Claire: "Deal."

after the fact
a few notes about sing.
1. if you are going to use smoke/dry ice, your act had better be good. otherwise, the presence of smoke merely reinforces that you used props as a last ditch effort to make your act seem reasonably good.
2. produce is very, very cute in the form of dresses.
3. the pun is underrated.
4. girls who weigh 175+ do not mix well with spandex.
5. more people does not always equal more energy or better production.
6. if you are going to put in 2 hours a night for months preparing for your act, you might as well try to make it good. too cool and aloof does not work at sing.
7. fred flintstone was not amazing in his original form. giant light blue ties over orange sacks has never been a great look. there's no need to re-hash. it's like re-producing the popples or slap bracelets or the pet rock.
8. no matter what, pi phi 4 eva! bubbles was fabulous.
great fun overall, it's a really lovely tradition...

the big (adam's) apple
we just got back from nyc. we went to coterie, where we bought merchandise for fall 09. the season will be really stunning and bubbles did a great job helping to buy and edit. vendors mostly gave great reports - the shops that are making it are looking forward to a strong selling season. we are really looking forward to the shoes that are due in, it will change the landscape and feel of the store.
on another front, we went makeup shopping. bubbles experienced nars and kiehl's for the first time. ray experienced what it was like to be perceived as "older". while in a cab, bubbles turned to ray and said, "oh, i wish we brought a camera so we could post pictures on the blog!" that didn't happen, but some memories are best left in the mind (insert cheesy john mayer song here).
in addition, ray's sister took ray and bubbles to a heated ashtanga class at pure yoga, on the upper east side. it was easily the hardest yoga session that any of us had ever been to. a girl in the front displayed such pliability and strength (and AMAZING bone structure) that ray shed a tear when the girl struck the bow pose. ray fell over during crow pose and bubbles fell asleep at the end. nice.
now we're back and determined to bring a little bit of new york back with us.
